That's not the way I want my story to end ...

A lot of loose change rattling around in my head this week ...

Firstly, the main item on the news for the last few nights has been the heatwave. Victoria is having a heatwave ... No frigging kidding. It's been high thirties since last weekend/start of this week, and the last four days have seen temps into the FORTIES. The freaking forties, people. Forty, forty three, forty four, forty four. And tomorrow we're in for a lovely forty four. The news keeps harping on about it ... It's a heatwave, it's a heatwave ... No shit, sherlock. Remember when it was winter and we were all bitching about how cold it was? Remember that magical, freezing time that was only a few months ago? When we all prayed for summer to start? Maybe we prayed too hard. Apparently it's the only time since 1855 that we've had this many days with the temp above 40. Well, don't I feel friggin special to be a part of history!

I had the week off work last week. I went to Melbourne - left on Tuesday when it was 42 (yeah, it was a great drive in a car with no air conditioning, thanks for asking), and it was mid to high 30's there all week. I went down to go to the allergist - the appointment I waited three months for - and to hang with my sister and my nieces for a few days.

My sister and my nieces are doing well. My little Bug Eyes is such a smart kid. She's very switched on - can't get much past that kid. My little Baby Smurf has turned into such a smiley, giggley kid. She's got a very definite personality - if she's not happy, you know it. But most of the time she's happy to just chill, smiling every few seconds at something random. It rocks!

The appointment with the allergist went great. I'm allergic to dogs! *lol* Funny. Not really badly allergic, but I had a reaction, so there's something there. Mostly I'm allergic to grasses, pollens, dust mites, all that kind of stuff. The good news is that I can be desensitised against those allergies. This involves starting immunotherapy, which is a fancy name for a hideously expensive course of 8 injections, done every second week. Then I go back to the allergist, and start a second course of terribly expensive injections. I finish them, and go back to the allergist again. Then I get a final - yep, you guessed it - unbelievably expensive lot of injections and go back to the allergist once more. Then I go on my merry way, hopefully forever cured of allergies/hayfever.

The good news is that the injections, which go over the next two or so years, will get rid of all the problems I'm having now. My asthma, which is mostly allergy/sickness induced will most likely totally go (woo hoo!). My headaches will disappear, I won't be so tired all the damn time, and I won't go through a box of tissues very two days, I'll be able to concentrate better at work ... The benefits are endless. The bad news? The injections work at out about $100 each. Not $100 per round, $100 each. There are 8 injections in each round. I get about $25 of that back on Medicare (wow ...! That'll help!). The other bad news is that I have to keep going the way I am for a while, it takes a few months (sometimes up to 6 or 8 months) to see the difference. But honestly, I'd pay anything to feel better, and I've put up with it for this long, so what's a few more months? Probably should start saving for the next lot of injections now though ...

So, I had my first injection yesterday afternoon. Because they inject me with what I'm allergic to, I have to have the injection, sit in the room with the doctor for five minutes, have my vitals taken, then go and wait in the waiting room for 25 minutes, and then I can leave. Apparently, injecting me with what I'm actually allergic to is kinda dangerous ... Who woulda guessed it?! The studies say that if a reaction is going to happen, it will happen in the first 15 minutes ... So my doctor makes me wait 25 just to be on the safe side. Apart from it going really red and some lumps coming up where the doctor stabbed me, (totally to be expected, though) it went fine.

Did I mention it's been a little bit hot here ... ?! Oh, I did ... ?!

Work has been good. I worked all this week, since I had last week off. It's been busy as all hell. I'm convinced that the girl who worked all last week did shit-all, all week, because I've spent the week catching up on work that should have already been done. Grr. However, yesterday I actually left at 4 instead of 5. Our power went out, and with no computer (and no air conditioning) there wasn't much point in me hanging around. Since I live about a three minute drive from work, I was worried about getting home to a hot house, figuring the power wouldn't have gone out here too, but I walked into a nice, cool house, with the power still working. I know the power went out in much of Victoria today due to the heatwave (yeah, we're in the middle of a heatwave, didn't you know?!), but thankfully we lucked out again and kept the power again all day.

So, I just finished seven days straight, I have tomorrow off, then I go back for four days, then I get two off. Woo hoo.

Before I finish, I'd like to get a little serious for a minute here. On Sunday night, an Uncle of mine died. His name was Russell, and he passed away after a brief illness. He fought, but the illness was stronger than him.

Russell never did anything "great", or "amazing". He was just an ordinary guy, who went to work each day. He loved his family, (including the two kids who weren't technically his) and was always there for them. He was gruff, sometimes a "grump", enjoyed a drink on special occassions (Sunday was a special occassion to Russell ...!) and love spoiling the grandkids. He wasn't rich, but he took care of his family. He wasn't surrounded by material crap that meant nothing. In the end, he died the way he lived - surrounded by his loving family, who were always there for him, like he was for them. Quite simply, he was a good guy.

R.I.P Russell. You fought so hard, right to the end. You have earned your rest.

Also, R.I.P. Darcey Freeman. I can't remember the last time that a story on the news made me cry so hard. What a horrible, horrible tragedy. How could someone do that to a child?

Ok, this has been a long entry, and it's now 12:27, so I think it might be time for bed. Night guys.

What a year!

So ... 2008.

What a year, eh?

2007, as I've written before, was a crappy year.

2008 was the year that things fell to pieces - and then fell back together perfectly.

"Maybe good things fall apart so better things can fall together..."

I could write a long, reflective blog entry on all that has happened in the last year ... But, quite frankly, I'm still paying for last night, and I've also had one or two drinks this arvo, so I don't quite have the attention span for a long entry. So instead, I'll just hit on the main points ...

Better things fell together this year.

I lost my job ... Then fell into a job that makes me happy. I love going to work now. I laugh, I joke around with the guys, and I work my arse off happily. I can't count the number of times that I've started smiling at work, just because I've had the thought that I'm so lucky - I love this place, this is my "work". I take work home, and I sit there smiling while I do it. I've been there close to seven months, and none of the gloss is wearing off. Rock on!

I moved from my nice, perfectly located, peaceful little unit when Christine purchased her first house. I knew that it would be fine, as we'd lived together before ... But I'd still lived alone for close to three years. I was used to total freedom, quiet when I wanted it and being the only one in control of the remote control. But again, better things fell together. Now? Now I've living in a kickarse house located three minutes from my work. We've got a huge kitchen and lounge room, and the best airconditioning ever. I haven't lost any of the freedom I got used to while living alone, and I can't believe I ever doubted that this would be anything but awesome. Again, this is only a couple of months old, but I don't see anything changing. We've settled in so well, it seems like we've always been here.

The family dramas went up and down for the first three-quarters of the year, which was rough. However, the last few months have seen a slight, teeny, tiny, slow-moving change occur. Things finally seem to be settling down. For the first time in a few years, we were all home for Christmas, and there were no fights. The day was peaceful, and content. We weren't the "perfect family" by any means ... But maybe we're on the way there.

"Maybe good things fall apart so better things can fall together ..."
Bring on 2009!

Happy New Year!

Another year over ...

I know, I know. Bad blogger. Baaaad blogger.

This is only my third entry for the month. How the hell did that happen?!

I actually had every intention of updating before Christmas, or at least on Christmas day to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I'm not sure what happened to those intentions, somewhere along the way they got lost I guess ...

Hope everyone had a safe and happy Christmas, anyway. I was at home, with the family and we actually had a great day. It was very low-key, but nice. There were no fights, I didn't break my brothers nose at any point during the day ... Yep, it was a good Christmas.

Things in the World of Snappz have actually been humming along quite nicely.

Christine and I have well and truly settled into the house, and are loving living together. We seem to have fallen into quite an easy, relaxed routine that leads to no stress, and no fights.

Jersey is still known as Devil Dog, and shows no signs of leaving his "puppiness" behind anytime soon. We are constantly saying "NO!", because he continues to do everything from dig massive holes in the backyard to pinch stuff from the bin inside to wreck stuff to whine incessantly when he's left outside alone for more than 30 seconds. Actually, the whining has toned down a notch, which is good, and we have managed to train him to sit and wait before he comes in the back door. Everything else though? He's driving us mental. The last few mornings we've gotten up to discover the concrete in the backyard covered in dirt, and holes everywhere. It's getting old. He actually dug out half a garden bed about an hour ago, and he'd only been outside alone for a little while. He's seriously testing the patience of both Christine and I.

The Buckley Bunny/B-Man/Buck-Miester/Buckster is doing well. He ended up at the vets again a couple of weeks ago, after he came out with big red spot type things on his back. Our first suspicion, since they looked like blood, was that Jersey had somehow managed to get to him, but it turned out to be a sun infection - something about the sun interacting with what he'd eaten, and upsetting the bacteria under his skin, which then turned bad. It was upsetting, and I felt guilty. I should have known better to let an all white rabbit live outside in the sun. So he's been an inside rabbit for the last couple of weeks while he gets better. To help him get better, twice a day I have to wash him with this brown stuff, then wait 10 minutes and put cream on him. He was on antibiotics for the first 14 days, but they've stopped now. I got some shadecloth to go over his cage, and probably at the end of this week I'll get some more to put on the fram at the back of the house. Today he went back into his outside cage - once it was properly covered, of course! Can't really afford another $150 at the vet! - and he already seems much happier. His cage inside is only small, so he doesn't have that much room to move. Hopefully by the end of the week his back will be all healed, and I'll have the rest of the shadecloth up for him.

Work is going well - really well. Devil dog and I sometimes go for walks at night, and we walk up past work - about a 50 minute walk all up. Last week I found myself smiling and laughing as I walked past work, unable to believe how happy I am there, and how much I love the place. Honestly, it's just awesome. Somewhere, somehow I must have done something good to get this gig. The office is closed for two weeks over the holidays, but I'm working right through in the nursery part. The best news I've heard lately? That they're considering taking me out of the nursery, and putting me in the office full time. I don't know if it will happen, but I think I might actually bust with happiness if it does :-)

I'm hoping to spend some time on here tonight, updating this page and making it look a bit newer. It's all a bit same old/same old. I haven't changed much on here in months. Might have to update my links and fix up the "Currently Reading", as well as find some new quotes for the page. Maybe some song lyrics ... Maybe some new pictures ... Hmm, we'll see how I go.

Ok, before I go, I have two things to share ...

Pictures of 2008: This is our world. Amazing. You can find Part 2 here, and Part 3 here.

And ... Some song lyrics.

I love Christmas. These two songs I've been playing non-stop all week, simply because I find them beautiful.

*****
Snow's falling down as you step out of your car
Presents in your arms and you've traveled far
Someone opens the door with a smile on their face
And you know you've come to the right place
Family nestled by the fire
Christmas hopes to inspire
Loved ones by your side
You know you'll kiss your babies goodnight
At Christmas, Christmas
No matter who you are, how far you've come
This is where you belong
At Christmas
Memories 'round the Christmas tree
Are the sweetest ones that remain with me
It's a comfort deep inside, though you can't stop the race of time
To know that Christmas will always be
Family nestled by the fire
A Christmas hope will be inspired
Loved ones by your side
You know you'll kiss your baby goodnight
At Christmas, Christmas
No matter who you are or how far you've come
At Christmas
Can't you feel it changin'
Sense the anticipation
You can tell we're almost there
Precious time we're takin'
Memories we're makin'
There's a Christmas in the air
Now this is what Christmas means to me
Being together with your family
And the wise men who have followed that star
To where our baby Jesus lay
Family nestled all around
Baby Jesus asleep so sound
And His star shined so bright
On that very first holy night
At Christmas, Christmas
No matter who you are or how far you've come
this is where you belong
At Christmas, Christmas

*****

Everything's different
But nothing has changed
Are we going in circles
It's Christmas again
Can't you hear the sleigh bells right
All our voices unite
And look up the the heavens
See the stars shining bright
Everybody needs a little lovin'
around Christmas time
Somehow you got to know you're going to be all right
Do you remember how it used to be
Sitting under the Christmas tree
In your heart you'll
Find the season
We've been blessed by the children
black, yellow, and white
They believe in the things
we try to deny
So throw down your weapons
But continue the fight
And let's love one another
On this Holy night
Everybody needs a little lovin'
Around Christmas time
Somehow you got to know you're gonna be all right
Do you really remember how it used to be
Sitting under the Christmas Tree
In your heard you'll
find the season
O reach down inside your heart
and see all the love
O in your heart you'll
find the reason
Everybody needs a little lovin'
Around Christmas time
Somehow you got to know you're gonna be all right
Do you really remember how it used to be
Sitting under the Christmas tree
In your heart you'll
find the season

Short, and sweet. Eh, not so sweet actually. I talk about bloody stumps at the end ...

My week so far:

- 4 weeks until moving day. Decided to start packing last night. Had fun for the first 20 minutes, then got bored and gave up. House now messier than ever. And still haven't organised a damn thing for the move.

- The cold that I had the other week? Turned into one hellacious chest infection (coughing up blood, not being able to sleep because lying down made it impossible to breathe, sleeping about 16 hours a day for something like 5 days straight), which I'm still trying to get rid of. What's with that?

- Have been told four times since Saturday that they'd love to make me a full time employee at the office/that they can see me becoming full time/that I'd be great all the time in the office/that they'd love to have me in the office all the time. Fingers crossed that it happens, I think I'd freaking explode with happiness!

- Things with my dad aren't great. He's still not well, and he's still not himself. He's still so quiet. He had a doctors appointment yesterday, and he had some follow up tests today. Hopefully something will show up and it can be easily fixed. Please, please let it be something that can be easily fixed.

- The Buck-miester is getting a new cage. I've put a layby a $250, double story wooden hutch for him. Since he'll be moving outside when we go to the new house, I wanted him to have a bigger, nicer cage. And this one is pretty sweet. Hopefully I can pay it off in the next few weeks so that when we move, he can move into his new digs too!

Ok, I'm out. Getting late and I'm at the stupid, i-hate-the-place-with-every-freaking-breath-in-my-body, depressing, awful cafe tomorrow. Ugh. I'd rather shoot myself in the foot with some kind of high-powered riffle and then pour salt into the wound and finish by hacking off my foot with a pair of blunt, useless scissors and walk over hot coals on my bloody stump to go to the hospital ...

22 degrees!

Spring has sprung. Thank freaking god, because I'm sick of cold, rainy weather.

Right now, it's sitting on 22 degrees, and I've actually got my house open to air it out a little. Outside is a little cloudy, but it's waaaarm. Woo hoo!

Of course, with spring comes hayfever. Yesterday I went house-hunting WITH A BOX OF TISSUES. Yeah. I couldn't stop sneezing long enough to go anywhere, so we ended up leaving with the tissues. I looked like shit. And today is a repeat performance. I'm going to have to go to the doctor to get a refferal to a specialist. I've tried every tablet/nasal spray/natural remedy out there. Some work, but usually only for a couple of days. Ugh. And I can only imagine how bad it's going to be at the office this summer with all the dust and pollens floating around. So I should probably get onto it before it gets worse.

So, yeah. I haven't done an entry for a while. Last week I worked all week - my usual two and a half days at the office, as well as Wednesday afternoon and Thursday as the other girl was sick. She was back on Friday, which was great for me because it meant that I didn't have to cancel my appointment to get my car fixed in Kerang. So, Friday morning I was up early and when I got home, dad took my car to the mechanic and mum and I hung out at home. Saturday and Sunday I worked at the cafe, (yes, I'm still there - don't ask) and as usual, it was not fun.

This week I worked Monday, was off Tuesday sick, and worked my usual half day on Wednesday. Yesterday I went house-hunting with Christine, which was fun. There's about 4 that we want to check out a little more - two that we really like. Hopefully we'll make a decision in the next couple of weeks and get the ball rolling soon. I swear, this will be the LAST time that I move ... Ever. *lol* Just looking around my place, realising how much crap I'll have to pack up gives me a headache :-) Not to mention, we'll be putting devil dog (Jersey) and Buckley in the one house, and throwing in my birds and Christine's fish (who are at constant risk of being eaten by Jersey). And Buckley will become an outside rabbit ... Don't know how he'll like that ... He's used to be inside. (Yeah, he's spoilt rotten!) I've already said that he'll be coming inside when it's too hot (32+ degrees) because as a rabbit, he's got no way to release heat (rabbits can't pant like dogs) and summer outside could easily kill him. So, we've got it all planned out. We just have to find *the* house :-)

What else ... That's about it, really. I've been very boring. Today I spent the day cleaning the house, doing washing, and cleaning out the bunny and birdies cages. Oh-so-fun. Now I'm going to go cook me something to eat, and listen to some music. Ahh, what a nice end to a day off :-)

Prepare yourself, it's gonna be a long one, folks ...

Well. Here I am. With the ability to type, and think. Yet, for some reason I haven't done a proper entry in a while ... Not sure why.

Has anyone noticed that the Olympics are on? It's only be on the tv non-stop, and all over the news. I've become - like many others - an instant expert in many sports, and have been judging every event I've watched. I'm happy to report that for the most part, the "official" judges have gotten it right ... :-) Australia has done well so far, especially Jessica Schipper, and Stephanie Rice, our swimming superstar, who was also a part of our golden 4x200m relay team. Brenton Rickard and Eamon Sullivan have also done Australia proud, both taking home silver medals.

Beijing 2008 hasn't been without it's fair share of controversy though, with a couple of "faking" scandals - both involving the opening ceremony. There was criticism when it was revealed that the little girl in the red dress who was singing at the opening ceremony ... Wasn't actually singing. And some of the fireworks were digitally inserted into the opening ceremony ... Interesting. While I think it's sad that a child can be left out because she "looks wrong", I guess it says a lot about China. The stories of cenorship that are emerging from the Olympics say much about a country that has a long way to go.

Today I worked at the cafe for three hours. The cafe is in the middle of Bendigo, right near the Bendigo Courts. When I got to work, there was people everywhere outside the Courts, as well as many cameramen and Police. Today, Christiaan Scholl, the truck driver in the Kerang Train Crash, faced a commital trial. On June 5, 2007 Mr Scholl was driving a truck that hit a train near Kerang, which derailed, killing 11 people. What happened that day seems to be nothing more than a terrible tragedy. What I was digusted with today was the news people, chasing Mr Scholl, and witnesses that were called to give evidence in the committal hearing, down the street or across the road, as they walked from the Courts. Those people have to live with what happened that day - being chased from court, and seeing themselves on the news must only make things harder for them. Mr Scholl now has to live with the fact that 11 people died because the truck he was driving hit that train. If the committal hearing finds that there is enough evidence, he will be sent to trial over charges arising from the accident. Even if the committal hearing finds that there is not even evidence, don't you think that he has put himself on trial every single day since that accident? For the rest of his life, he has to live daily with the fact that 11 people died that day. It was an accident - but he will forever be "The driver of the truck in the Kerang Train Tragedy". Give the man some dignity - he does not deserve to be chased from Court when he's been through as much, if not more, than everyone who was there that day.

Has anyone else seen this story? How freaking hilarious is it! Basically, "A scorned woman has literally aired her husband's dirty laundry on a global scale by auctioning his mistress's knickers on eBay. In a spiteful listing on eBay Australia, the jilted Queensland woman is auctioning off a pair of lacy black underpants "size humongous" and an empty condom wrapper "size small" found in her bed after her husband allegedly engaged in an extramarital affair with a woman named Kylie." (Taken from heralsun.com.au) I don't know why anyone would bid on an item like that ... Maybe for the entertainment value?! The full ebay ad can be found here.

I know this entry is bouncing around like crazy ... So let's skip from news to Blogs I've been reading. As always, I've been hanging over at Not Quite What I Had Planned, otherwise known as Kristies place. If you've never checked it out, head over there now and thank me later. I've also been reading Katie's Overflowing Brain. Unlike me, Katie actually updates daily! And she's sarcastic and funny. I've been keeping up with my CaringBridge Kids, and if you want to know what I'm on about ... Check the right hand side of the screen, there's a long list of links there. I'm also still a big fan of PostSecret and Dan, as well as Tori over at I Pretty Much Hate Everything.

What else can I ramble about tonight ...

Well, in family news Baby Smurf, my gorgeous 9 month old niece, had a huge week last week, and not only starting crawling but also cut her first tooth! Rock on, my little Smurf. No longer toothless and now able to get from A to B. What more could a Smurfette want from life? And my little Bug Eyes, well, she just gets smarter and smarter every week. Usually when my sister and I talk on the phone I say hello to Bug Eyes, and each week she says a little more and sounds a little smarter. I'm hoping to get down to see them sometime soon since it's been a couple of months, and I'm sure the girls have grown heaps.

My sister is still in the middle of Wedding-Planning-Madness. Sadly, it'll stay for a while as she's not getting married until the end of 2010. I have to head down soon to find a bridesmaid dress, which will be oh-so-much-fun, I'm sure ... :-P

Gus the fighting fish has floated to that big fishbowl in the sky. It was very unexpected, and happened overnight. I'm thinking of getting another fighting fish and naming him Fergus ...

Last week, I looked after devil dog overnight while Chrissie worked. It was actually a quiet night in terms of destruction - he ate a cube of Post-It notes (about 150 of them) when I fell asleep on the floor while studying, (serves me right!) and broke the clip of my MP3, but other than that things were ok. He sulked pretty much non-stop, and spent most of the night trying to "bury" stuff in my carpet. The next night he stayed at home while Chrissie worked because I was too tired to look after him ... And he chewed a hole in her washing machine hose. Whoops ...

I'm so changing the look of this blog ... It's just shitting me. I'll do it after I finish this entry. I guess I haven't been on here much, so it hasn't annoyed me too much. But now that I look at it ... It's got to go.

Anyway, that's about it from here. Might think of some other stuff to blog about tomorrow ... If not, see you sometime next week!

You hang in there sunshine, you're friggin special.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate!

I know. I've been so totally slack this week.

In my defence ... Well, I have no defence, actually. I haven't been crazy-busy or depressed about anything ... Just haven't been on the computer much. Just been flat out lazy :-) Yay, go me!

I worked Monday/Tuesday/half of Wednesday at the office like usual. Have I mentioned how much I love that place?! Yesterday was actually the first time I've had a crappy day there, and it was because I had some guy on the phone who was on a crappy mobile line so I couldn't understand most of what he was saying. He called me fucking stupid, which is always nice to hear. Meg, our accounts chick, was in my office when I answered the call, and when I hung up I turned to her and went "Wow. He was a lovely guy". Mick, who I share the front office with, wasn't in when the call came, so Meg hung around til he got back, because she knew he was going to be pissed off. And he was. Whoever that guy was (and I have a pretty good idea - Mick agrees with me), he's going to get an earful when Mick catches up with him, because he was not impressed that I'd been spoken to like that. It wasn't so much the language that bothered me, because hello, I swear like a sailor on leave at times, it was the way he said it - he was so angry, and he meant it. Why? Because I couldn't hear him properly because of his crappy line. Not my fault, buddy. Anyway, by the time I left I was laughing about it, and told Mick that when he was speaking to the guy to ask him out for me, he's definitely someone I'd want to take home to mum and dad. That got a laugh from Mick :-)

Hmm ... What else ... There hasn't been much else happening here. I didn't go to bed til 3 this morning, and I had to be up at 8 because I had an electrictian coming to look at my stove. I got up that early, and he WASN'T EVEN HOT. Seriously. So disappointed, is all I'm saying. He actually rang at 7:45 to ask what time we'd made the appointment for. I was very impressed with his professionalism. *lol* But, my stove is now working, and I'm getting new drip trays since the old ones are rusted through, so all is good.

Ended up going back to bed about 9 this morning after the electrictian left :-) Ahh, lazy huh? Slept til almost 2. I haven't been sleeping well this week, and I figured that I've got nothing on today, so why the hell not. Thinking now about having a bath then going for a walk somewhere. Have to clean my house this afternoon or tomorrow, as Pete's coming this weekend. It's not that dirty, but I usually clean it at the end of the week anyway.

Hmm ... What else ... Well, there isn't much more to say :-) I've been pretty boring this week. Oh, Origin Three was on last night, and QLD won, and took out the series, 2 - 1 ... :-( They've won the last three series now ... That's ok. Next year will be Year Of The Blue. It was a damn good game last night though, it was close and it could have gone either way. There were a couple of times with only 5 or so minutes left in the second 40 that I thought NSW might score to equal, but I guess it wasn't to be. Oh well.

Anyway. It's actually 3:55 p.m. ... I went and had a shower half way through writing this ... I should probably go and do something now that I've wasted half of the day. Peace out, dudes.

You hang in there sunshine, you're friggin special.

Damn reality. Interfering again.

Sometimes you think that you've got a handle on a situation. You're in control of things. You're calm, rational, feelin' just fine. Everything's ok.

And then something happens, reality smacks you in the face, you get knocked on your arse, and you realise that maybe, just maybe, you're not handling things as well as you think.

I hate when that happens.

I don't regret ringing DHS on my own brother. I don't care that I may have dumped him in some massive s-h-i-t. I know that I did the right thing. Yes, he's family, he's my blood, but so what? My nephew is family, and he can't take care of himself. He doesn't have anyone to look out for him. His parents should be doing that. They're not.

I know that I did the right thing. I have no guilt, no regrets.

So, why can't I sleep? Why am I literally throwing myself into my work? Why have I cleaned my whole house 4 times in the last week?

It wasn't until today, when a friend pointed out what I was doing that I realised exactly what I was doing. What I always do when I'm stressed. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Damn reality.

Finally ...

I think i've finally come to the point in my life where
I am happy with myself and know that
I dont have to change or
be a certain way for people to like me anymore.
I am just fine and if someone doesnt think i am ...
screw them.

This story has been all over the news since it broke yesterday.

It's the saddest thing I've seen recently.

The twins weighed about 4 kilos each when they died. They were eighteen months old.

My six month old niece weighs NINE kilos.

Reports this morning are saying the children died up to nine days ago, and that the QLD Department of Childrens Services knew about the family. Which means that someone, somewhere was worried enough to ring and voice a concern.

How did this happen? Why didn't someone realise what was going on? What is wrong with the parents? Why didn't someone help them? Why didn't the 'someone' who rang Childrens Services fight harder to be heard?

It's just so sad.

Boy, do I love my nieces ...

So, I went to visit my mum and dad yesterday. My sister, her boyfriend and my nieces were also at mum and dads, visiting. This is how my night went last night ...

11:45 p.m. Hit the sack. I'm sleeping in the spare room with my nieces. Bug Eyes is on the futon with me, and Baby Smurf is on the floor on a kids fold-out couch. Spend a few minutes trying to move Bug Eyes to one side of the futon so I can squeeze on there somewhere. She may be small, but the kid has got arms and legs everywhere.

12:15 a.m. Still awake as Bug Eyes has limbs everywhere, and hits me with a knee or an elbow approximately every 45 seconds. Finally manage to drift off sometime after 12:45 a.m.

1:30 a.m. Wake to the sound of Baby Smurf talking to herself. She's not upset or anything ... Just talkin Smurfese.

2:15 a.m. Still awake. So, incidentally, is Baby Smurf, who continues to have a great old conversation with herself. Have now got a headache the size of the Grand Canyon.

2:50 a.m. Baby Smurf is now thumping her legs on the ground. I'm guessing by the sound that she's motored herself off the little kiddy couch and is on the floor, kicking away. I get up to investigate, and nearly stand on her. She has not only moved herself off the couch, she's gotten all the way to the door.

3:00 a.m. The house phone rings. I put Baby Smurf back on her couch, and run out to the loungeroom, thinking that a middle of the night phonecall can't be a good thing. Dad answers, and who ever was on the other end hangs up. He decides to go outside for a smoke, and hands the phone to me.

3:05 a.m. Phone rings again. Answer it to hear my drunk brother saying "I lost my temper and kicked in a door and smashed a window". Hand the phone to mum.

3:20 a.m. Mum, dad, my sister, my sisters boyfriend and I are now all sitting in the lounge. Baby Smurf is still in the spare room, yapping merrily away to herself. Try to figure out what to do with fuckwit brother, who obviously needs some kind of help. What the hell is wrong with him??

3:40 a.m. Mum, dad and sisters boyfriend all head back to bed. Amanda and I get Baby Smurf up and bring her into the lounge room, where she starts to giggle at the fact that she's now got an audience. I tell Amanda to go back to bed, I'll feed the Smurf and put her into bed.

4:00 a.m. Baby Smurf drinks half her bottle, then starts giggling and talking again. Which is friggin cute ... But not at 4 a.m., when all I want to do is sleeeeeep.

4:30 a.m. Baby Smurf is obviously not going back to sleep anytime soon, as evidenced by her talking and her bright eyes. So I put on The Golden Girls, and set her on the floor to kick until her heart is content.

5:00 a.m. I try giving the Smurf the rest of her bottle, hoping that maybe that will make her sleepy. She drinks about half, then settles on my chest while I watch The Golden Girls. If I can just stay here, nice and quiet, she might maybe fall asleep ...

5:25 a.m. Make the mistake of trying to put Baby Smurf into bed. Her eyes immediately fly open and she gets very outraged, and spends the next 15 minutes telling me (loudly) of her disgust in me.

5:50 a.m. We're settled onto the couch again. Baby Smurf is talking quietly to herself, and I'm fighting to keep my eyes open. Finally, finally, she falls asleep, and I spend 15 minutes trying not to move a muscle to make sure she stays asleep.

6:30 a.m. At last! The Smurf goes back to bed. I go to the loungeroom, intending to sleep on the couch. I don't think I even lasted 5 minutes before I was out like a light.

7:05 a.m. Bug Eyes is up! And she can't understand why Aunty Snappz doesn't want to get up and play ...

Rants ... And talking Smurfese.

There are a couple of things on my mind tonight. There's going to be a few *rants*, then a normal entry. If you don't want to read my rage, skip to the last part.

****

Firstly ... This person that I know. This person is not a friend, not a relative, not someone I particularly like, but this person was at my house the other night.

Then, the TAC ad came on tv. The one that always makes me tear up.

This person watched for a few seconds, turned to me and said, "You know, when I watch this ad, I want to kill all those people. Seriously."

WTF???

I don't even know where to start. Even though I was in MY HOUSE, I walked out.

How fucked in the head do you have to be to even think something like that? Never mind actually saying it out loud to another person. What kind of freak is he?

I was literally stunned. This wasn't said as a joke (even though it's OBVIOUSLY a hilarious joke, or at least he would think so), or by someone who was trying to be sarcastic. He was serious, and it is psychopathic. I'm kicking myself now for not calling him on it and telling him to get the hell out of my house.

*****

I worked on Saturday. I worked with someone who ignored me for half the time, then spoke to me like I was a piece of dog shit on her shoe the rest of the time.

It was not pleasant, and by the time she left work, I was very upset.

I kept my temper though. I figured I'd wait until my boss came in later that day, talk calmly to her about it and figure something out. So I did.

Only to be told that yes, the person has an attitude problem. But no, my boss isn't going to do a damn thing about it.

Why? Because in five (yes, 5) weeks, my boss is going to Malaysia with her family and will need the person to work during that time.

In five (5) weeks.

In FIVE (5) WEEKS you could easily fire this person, hire and train someone new to do the job, and go enjoy your Malaysian holiday.

The job is not that difficult. I've picked up almost everything I need to know by doing TWO shifts a week for the last TWO weeks. In FOUR shifts, there's not much that I haven't learnt.

Bottom line is, I don't get paid enough to deal with this shit. I don't need it, and I don't want it. Dealt with it at Safeway and at KFMC, and I'm not doin it again. The boss doesn't want to say anything? Fine. I will.

****

(**Warning: Trashy tv talk ahead**)

Nobbi. How in the hell is he still on Big Brother? He's a bully. What he did to Travis was cruel, malicious and totally unnecessary. He knew exactly what he was doing. It wasn't "in-your-face" "tough" bullying, but it was bullying all the same.

****

So called "friends". Here's a tip for you. If you choose when you feel like being my friend, you're not a friend. I don't ask a lot from friends, but I will not be ignored and made to feel like nothing because you're busy jerking off or something. Grow the hell up. What is wrong with you? You have no other friends, (and you know that's the truth) and you're alienating the ONE friend you do have?

It's no skin off my nose if you want to do this. I have other friends around me, other people I care about, and laugh with. You? You're going to end up alone, and you'll wonder why. Maybe it's time to make a change ...

****

Ok. Rant time is over. I'm turning from a bitter, twisted individual back into me ... *lol*

I got to see Baby Smurf and Bug Eyes earlier this week. It was awesome. Bug Eyes (who's three in two weeks time) has turned into one very stubborn, very determined and very bossy child. All normal ... And hilarious. Some of the things she comes out with literally make me cry with laughter.

And Baby Smurf? Two words ...

Friggin. Gorgeous.

:-) *lol* She's a smiler. She smiles from the minute she wakes up until the minute she goes back to bed. She's "talking" to herself in Smurfese, and she's got the cutest little grunts and sounds. She thinks her Aunty Snappz is hilarious - what a coincidence! I think that too! - and I loved every second of making her laugh.

Anyway. Haven't done a footy update in a while - I'll get caught up in the next couple of days, I promise. Have to go now because it's time for STATE OF ORIGIN! Game two is on tonight ... GO BLUES! It's 7:30 and it's just about to start.

Peace out!

"What a big week in football it's been..."

I always hate trying to think of a way to start a blog entry. It sucks.

It's been a big week.

Monday, I started my new job. I went in last Wednesday for a few hours, but Monday was my first full day. So far, I love it. It's interesting, because up until now they haven't had someone in the front office. So the job expands as I get used to the place, and I'm basically doing whatever needs to be done - there's no specified job role. Monday I typed up quotes, organised the computer (because there were folders and files everywhere), started to organise the next social club dinner, redid some nursery and office signs, did a spreadsheet for the insurance company (because the company had some stuff stolen from a Harcourt site). Then I got four massive folders dumped on my desk, containing contact information for businesses we deal with, some of who have set up accounts with us, and I spent Monday afternoon sorting through some of them. They all have to be put in a database. It's going to take WEEKS.

Tuesday was my birthday. Woo hoo, 25. My sister didn't even bother to send a card, because she's visiting next week. Actually, I was talking to her on the phone tonight, and she hasn't even brought a card yet. Oh yeah, that made me feel loved. My brother/my brother's girlfriend didn't even bother to ring on Tuesday, or send a card. I didn't really want to speak to my brother, but I wanted to speak to my nephew, and hear him say "Happy birthday, Aunty Rach".

It's not all bad, though. I scored some cool presents - a new watch, The Shield, season 4, money - which I used to buy some new clothes for my office job (coz I don't really do formal clothes. I'm strictly a tshirt and jeans kinda girl. The office isn't too formal though, so I can get away with wearing black pants and a nice top), some earrings, and of course, my hair straightener. (Which was actually a birthday present, I just got it early :-))

I worked all day Tuesday, and actually made a dent in all those folders on my desk. By the end of Tuesday, I had done about a quarter of one folder! *lol* Doesn't sound like that much, but it's a shitload of work. In about 8 weeks, I might actually be finished with the database :-)

Wednesday ... I worked again. It's my short day though, I only work half a day on Wednesday. Got some of the database done, did some more on the insurance stuff, basically worked my arse off and loved every second of it.

Went out for dinner on Wednesday night with the girls from the cafe, which was great fun. We went to a Vietnamese/Chinese place, got about 8 different dishes and tried a little bit of everything. After we'd finished there, we went to Seboo and had coffee and talked for another couple of hours. It was 11:30 before I got home.

Thursday I got up on the wrong side of the bed, and was cranky for the whole day. Usually I'm fine after I wake up a bit, but not yesterday. I was just pissed. My mum came down for the day, so we did some shopping, had some lunch and hung out for a while. I ended up having a sleep on the couch after she left, which of course meant that I didn't go back to sleep until like 3 o'clock this morning. I ended up watching season 4 of The Shield for a while, have watched about half of it so far. Might watch the rest tonight.

Today, since I didn't go to bed til 3 a.m., I didn't get up til 11. I laid on the couch and watched some tv for a couple of hours ... Just couldn't be stuffed doing anything. I finally got up about 2, got dressed and went for a walk for an hour. Got home, went to the library, and did some shopping. Got home and just been bumming around since then. Just in a *mood* again, I guess. Not sure why. Just pissed off that my brothers girlfriend couldn't even be bothered to ring me for my birthday. I'm also sick of my other job - not the office one, the cafe one - because I'm sick of a couple of the girls I work with. One is total snitch, and runs to the boss with everything - it doesn't affect me because I don't do anything to get me in trouble, I just think it's a scummy thing to do - and the other is a total bitch, who hates the boss and has an attitude. I can see snitch continuing to dob in bitch, and bitch walking out, which will leave me working more with snitch. And I gotta say, I don't really like her as a person. Oh well. Whatever.

What else ... Well, my roof finally got fixed. It leaked about 6 times, and I had the plumber out here 4 times. I had a go at my real estate agency, because I was putting in maintenance request forms, and no one was doing anything about them. So I cracked it, and put in another form, and had words to the girl at the desk, and also had words with my property manager. Who, suddenly, has turned into the nicest, most apologetic person on the planet. I don't lose my temper very often, but I was very close and I think my property manager realised that.

Man, this has turned into one long-winded entry. Blah, blah, blah. Anyway, since I did nothing today, I better go do some housework. I've got my sister, the ultimate neat freak, showing up in a couple of days, so I need to clean. Of course, it doesnt matter how clean the place is, she'll get here and clean it again - it's like she's some kind of freak. (Who I love dearly, of course ...!) Looking foward to seeing my nieces again, haven't seen them in a couple of months. Bug Eyes has been learning new words daily, and is a very smart kid. And Baby Smurf has started to roll over and is "talking" to herself all the time. Can't wait to hang out with the girls again.

Anyway, the house aint gonna clean itself. I'm out.

Big Brother is TOTALLY trashy tv ... And I love it! Hahaha. Bianca is a cow, and Dixie ... Oh my god. Total skank-face cow. Hahaha. Love it.

I think I've figured out why Buckley keeps destroying stuff. It's because when I say "NO!", he ... Doesn't listen. Doesn't seem to give a damn. I think that's the problem right there. I'm just not sure how to fix it ... How do you discipline a rabbit?!

Yesterday morning, I got up to discover that during the night, my roof had leaked. This is how my thought process went:

Walk into the kitchen, see something on the bench ...
What? I don't remember spilling anything on the bench.
Look over to the couch. Notice there are wet spots on the couch.
What? Buckley peed on the couch? But he hasn't been on the couch this morning.
Look up at the ceiling directly above me and notice that it looks like something has exploded all over the roof.
What the hell? Has someone been in my house during the night?
Look at the ceiling in the lounge and notice that that too, is covered.
What the hell is going on? Someone broke in and exploded a bottle of coke? Oh my god ... What do I do here? Call the cops? And say what, exactly? What the hell?

As you can see, it took me quite a while to realise what had happened ... I'm not sure how, but my roof leaked, all over the lounge and the kitchen. It took hours to clean up, first I had to get everything out (because it was actually dripping onto all my stuff)and put in the spare room/my bedroom, then clean off the ceiling, then wipe down all the walls, benches, the sink, clean the curtains, rewash everything that had been on the clotheshorse, then put everything back in the lounge.

Really glad I went to the effort of getting my carpets cleaned two weeks ago, too. They've got stains all over them, because the water that leaked in was of course dirty/rusty water. Yup, reallllly glad I shelled out $100 to get the carpets done.

Anyway. So after I cleaned up the mess I headed out to help pack up the cafe. Of course, by the time I got there they were almost done! It was a bit sad, but ... Oh well, shit happens. It's not the end of the world.

Today I had to get Centrelink stuff organised ... Did some job applications, made an appointment with an employment agency (SAEP)... Ahh, the exciting life of the unemployed bum :-)

Anyway .... I started this post hours ago, then wandered off to watch some tv, and have only just returned. It's laaaaate ... Uhhh, earrrrrly Tuesday morning now :-) And I better head to bed. I've got an appointment at 10 a.m. ... Fun!

Peace out.

Some days you just want to pee on everything ... *

Helllllllllllloooooooooooooo?

Is anyone out there ... out there ... out there ... ?

*lol* Sorry. I'm just amusing myself.

So. It's been a while.

Firstly something from the "That's a little disturbing file": Someone found this blog by typing the following words into Google:

Some days you just want to pee on everything.

I kid you not. Seriously.

Ok ... Moving on.

Let's see ... What's new ... Well, it's only 18 days until my birthday. Woo hoo. Looking forward to it because I'm hoping to get a new straightener this year. My old one seems to hate me ... Keeps turning itself off, and occasionally won't even turn on! This morning it decided to turn on, but then started smelling like something was burning. Not good.

What else ... Well, I'm unemployed. Technically, not til tomorrow, coz the cafe doesn't close til tomorrow, but my last shift was yesterday. I was hoping to go away with some mates tomorrow, but I don't think that will happen. Tomorrow morning I'll go out and see the girls, maybe have some lunch, say goodbye to the stupid Market Centre :-)

It's not all bad though. I mean, being unemployed will give me lots of spare time. Yahooo! I'll be able to watch lots of crappy day time tv, read lots of books, hang out with that bunny of mine, keep my house nice and clean ... Yep, that'll keep me entertained for about a week, I'm not sure what I'm going to do after that :-) Guess I'll figure something out.

I have been looking ... Looking ... Looking ... for another job though, for about 8 weeks now. I've had a couple of interviews, gotten about 7 rejection letters already, plus a text message saying that i'd been unsuccessful ... I'll just have to keep looking.

Hmm ... What else ... Well, I was (as I mentioned earlier) planning to go away this weekend - to Finley, in NSW - but I don't think i'll be going, as once again, I'm sick. I don't know why I seem to be picking up every freaking sick germ that's going around - I've had pneumonia twice (and ended up at the hospital because of it twice) and a chest infection as well as that stupid gastro bug (all in the last two months) - but I'm hoping that when I kick this stupid flu, I'll have had my "fill" of being sick for this year and I'll stay healthy ... Well, a girl can hope, right?!

Oh. My mum's best friends grandson (Jayden) is still in a coma. Doctors operated last week to remove a piece of his skull, to release some pressure, and they're now not sure what's going to happen, or when they might start to bring him out of it. However, my mums best friend - Janice - fell down an escalator earlier this week and broke her leg pretty badly. She was operated on yesterday, and is still in hospital recovering. I can't believe the bad luck! If you're so inclined, please think good thoughts/send up some prayers/positive juju for Janice and family, who could probably really use them at the moment ... Thanks.

Anyway. I think I'm going to go back to bed. I'm tired, and cranky, and tired, and I have another fever. Argh. Goodnight ... and since I'm now unemployed, let's hope I can start blogging a little more often ... Peace out :-)

Jersey (A.K.A. Destructo)

So. Long story short - Christine's away for a couple of weeks, so I'm baby sitting her eight month old puppy, Jersey.

Now, let's recap.

The last time Jersey stayed with me, this happened:

In three nights he managed to pee on my vacuum cleaner, destroy my sunglasses, rip a hole in my doona cover, eat a Tupperware container, and rip apart a book. Good work, Destructo!

Christine left for Kerang on last Wednesday. On Wednesday night, I picked the pup up and we headed to my place. Since then, he has managed to:

- knock over the birds cage
- freak out the rabbit by trying to stick his nose in the cage
- get into my bin and my recycling container and spread whatever he can find all over my lounge room floor numerous times
- find a tube of lip gloss, and destroy it ... All over my new sheets, effectively wrecking them by staining them (that happened Monday night. I got so upset I actually cried. Yup. Pathetic, huh?!) - pee right outside my toilet door so I STOOD in it when I got up the other morning
- chew up two socks, a pair of thongs, and a book.

He has also given me several near-strokes, by running off when I let him outside to do his business. He's always got a leash on, because my street is usually a little busy (even at night) but I let him walk around as he wants when I let him out. He's currently in the laundry, being punished because he took off when I let him outside a few minutes ago. He ran across the road, and kept dodging away from me, like it was some fun, awesome game. Meanwhile, I'm nearly having a FIT, because I can see him getting run over or disappearing into the darkness.

I'm not quite sure when Christine is returning ... But my god, as much as I love that dog (and I do, he is gorgeous, and will always cheer me up after work. Plus, when he's in a mental mood, he's FREAKING HILARIOUS!) I hope that it's soon ... ! :-)

Edited: 9:15 p.m.

I just found Jersey, under my bed, CHEWING ON MY WATCH. He's obviously been there a while, because it's destroyed. You know what? I'm not even upset. It's more like ... "Eh. Oh well."

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

Please?

Tomorrow, I have a job interview. It's a business traineeship, something I'd love to do.

So ... I could use some good vibes, thoughts, prayers, juju ... Whatever it is that works you ...

If you could fling 'em my way about 3 o'clock, that'd be great! :-)

Helpful advice, my arse.

So, today (well, yesterday actually. Yesterday morning), Christine and I took a trip to Bunnings. Now, having a dad who's more than willing to do all that stuff that needs doing around my house means that I've never really needed Bunnings (or any hardware store) for any reason at all. But yesterday morning, Christine got up to discover that Jersey, her 8 month old puppy, who has, for the last 6 months been digging holes all over her back yard, had finally managed to dig his way under the fence, into the neighbours yard. Hahahaha! What a little bugger.

So we went to Bunnings, to get some wood, or some wire mesh, or something that would stop this from happening again.

It was interesting. And hilarious.

Me: Ooh, I'll ask that guy there for advice.
Christine: It does say on their ads they have lots of helpful advice!
Me: Excuse me. I was wondering if you could help us. We've got a problem with a dog, who's digging underneath a fence, getting out, and we need to put something there to stop him. What would be the best way to go about it?
Sales guy: I don't know anything about dogs. (Turns back to his work)
Me: Oook. Thanks anyway.
(As we're walking off)
Sales guy: Oh wait. I did hear of a friend. You probably won't like it, but he put barbed wire in the dirt all around the fence. The mutt shredded his feet when he tried to dig.
Me: Uh ... Thanks! We'll give that some thought.

(As soon as we walk away)
Christine: I wonder if his "friend" is now in jail.
Me: Helpful advice, my arse.

About 20 minutes later, we'd decided on a two-stage attack plan. A long plank of wood to put in front of the fence, and some square iron thingies (is it obvious I don't know how the hell to describe them?!) to put in front of the fence where the wood wouldn't reach. So, we decide that as soon as we get a shovel, we'll be out of there. Turns out the shovels are in the same isle as the mailboxes (some of which are FREAKING MASSIVE!), which leads to this brainwave from yours truly.

Me: (Laughing hysterically) Why not just buy a mailbox and stick him in there when you're not at home?
Christine: What is WRONG with you?!
Me: Problem solved (still laughing at my brilliance).
Christine: Oh ... My ... God ...
Me: You know, I think I may have been dropped on my head as a baby.
Christine: We could put barbed wire on the outside of the mailbox, he'd never get out!
(Then we both start laughing because we have the same dorky sense of humour and find each other hilarious!)

So, all in all ... A productive trip to Bunnings :-)

I cannot believe it's 3:15 a.m. and I'm awake. I am soooo tired. I haven't slept a lot the last couple of nights. I died about 11:30 tonight, then woke up an hour ago, having big trouble breathing. As soon as I'd been sitting upright for a few minutes, it got a lot easier to breathe, so I don't know what's going on there. You know, this breathing thing aint as easy as it looks ... :-)

Anyway, I might try and get some sleep. If this doesn't stop I'll have to go to the doctors AGAIN. Grr. Ok, I'm out :-)

Stupid technology

Man, I'm tired.

Yesterday, I worked. Woo hoo, give me a medal. *lol* Sorry, I'm just amusing myself.

Anyway, mum and dad came down to Bendigo for the day, to look at doors, and go car browsing. They ended up buying mum a new computer. Not because there's anything really wrong with hers, but she just thought it was time for a new computer.

So, last night after work I headed up to mum and dads. I spent hours last night setting up the computer, and transferring all her photos and family history stuff onto the new computer. Surely there's a quicker, easier way to do it ... Too bad I don't know it.

So, as my piece-of-crap-i-think-it-is-possessed-and-it-hates-me-laptop has been playing up lately, I inherited mums old computer. I've just spent ages getting the broadband connection sorted out ... Man, was that confusing. I had to dig out the CD I got when I first connected to Telstra. And then my modem - which has obviously been chewed by A RABBIT, who shall remain nameless, thank you very much BUCKLEY B. BUNNY - decided it didn't want to work. And, as it turns out, you can't connect to the internet without a modem. Who knew?

So, now I've got to move all my photos and stuff onto this computer, as well as install iTunes. Because there's no way in hell I'm goin without my podcasts and music! :-)

Anyway. I've got to go do some stuff, and then I'm going to have a very quiet night on the couch. I'm freaking exhausted.

Peace out.
